I barely notice any difference between a run with or without short sighted other than the free points it provides. However, I think there's a fun way to rework the perk to make it impact the gameplay more. Here's the suggestion: have the short-sighted perk force your character to be zoomed all the way in all the time.

Conspicuous, on the other hand, is considered "free trait points" by some people, because sneaking is not as reliable as clearing your way nice and steady, luring zombies in packs of 1-3 and killing them by little. I mostly run conspicuous, but I'd probably choose none in CDDA start because of multiple reasons.
Short blunt is very ok. It’s not really the best at anything, but like you said it’s very easy to find tons of short blunt weapons. I personally wouldn’t spec into it, but it’s a good option to level maintenance. Drawing zombies is good because you can pull em in the woods/kill ‘em. If losing a horde is the problem, it's more complicated to explain, but the short answer is to break line of sight, go stealth mode and do a couple of turns to avoid pursuers. Short Sighted One of the best traits frequently recommended by the Project Zomboid community is Short-Sighted. Although the description of the negative trait says it decreases the player's vision, It appears not to affect the character in any noticeable way. Because of this, it's an easy +2 point that can go towards a decent positive trait.
Apparently they're bugged and neither trait has any effect at the moment. I'd say take short-sighted for free points but you'd be risking out become an actual debuff once it gets patched. The patch notes for the next version indicate short sighted can be offset by wearing glasses. I like this a lot.

Dextrous - Loots, organizes and crafts faster, less risk of being caught off-guard. Organized - More efficient looting and easier sorting of storage.
